Fukuoka is one of the places in Japan where cherry blossom first heralds its arrival. The Maizuru Park featuring around a 1000 cherry trees is located in the ruins of the ancient Fukuoka Fort. Japanese Year In Sync With The Seasons
As a schoolteacher in Japan, I noticed that Japanese people start their school and working year in April, not January or September. This makes perfect sense, because Japan’s year is in perfect sync with the seasons. Spring is the time when nature starts its cycle all over again, after mother nature hibernates over winter. New employees begin their jobs in April, students begin classes in April, and university graduates begin a new life in April, all coinciding with the new cherry blossoms.
